Frequently asked questions

What is Kadance?
Kadance is a precision health program that provides genetic testing and personalized health navigation across cancer prevention, treatment, and recovery. Members can gain insight into inherited cancer risk, access advanced testing and oncology support after a diagnosis, receive information about how their body may respond to certain medications and guidance to optimize their medication plan, and receive support throughout treatment and survivorship. By combining genomic science with dedicated navigation, Kadance gives members and their healthcare teams clearer information to support more informed decisions.
Is Kadance only for people who have cancer?
No. Kadance is designed to support people at different stages: those who want to be proactive about hereditary cancer risk, those currently facing cancer, and those moving forward after treatment. Members can choose the program that best fits where they are today in their health journey.
What is hereditary cancer risk testing?
Hereditary cancer risk testing looks for inherited gene mutations that have scientific evidence supporting a higher lifetime risk for certain cancers. Kadance analyzes genes linked to hereditary cancer risk and pairs results with expert guidance, so members can better understand what their results may mean for prevention, screening, and family health conversations.
What happens if I have a higher hereditary cancer risk?
If your results identify an inherited genetic mutation associated with an increased risk of certain cancers, Kadance helps you understand what that finding may mean and what questions to discuss with your doctor. If a clinically significant inherited mutation is identified, you'll also meet with a certified genetic counselor to review your results, discuss your personal and family history, and develop a personalized risk management plan to share with your healthcare team. Depending on the specific gene and established clinical guidelines, that plan may include recommendations for earlier or more frequent cancer screenings, additional preventive measures, or genetic testing for at-risk family members.
How does Kadance support someone after a cancer diagnosis?
After a cancer diagnosis, Kadance provides oncology navigation and support designed to help members and their care teams make informed decisions. This may include expert case review, advanced genomic tumor testing options, medication guidance, and clinical trial evaluation, all coordinated through a dedicated Oncology Nurse Navigator.
What happens if I am diagnosed with cancer?
Notify us of your diagnosis through the Kadance member portal. A dedicated Oncology Nurse Navigator will contact you within one business day to review your information, answer questions, and guide next steps. Depending on your membership, your nurse navigator may coordinate services such as a Molecular Pathology Consult, Comprehensive Genomic Profiling, Clinical Trial Search and Enrollment Support, and Medication Optimization Program alongside your treating healthcare team.
How does Kadance support recovery after cancer treatment?
After treatment is complete, Kadance provides survivorship and recovery support based on your membership and needs. A Survivorship Nurse Navigator can guide next steps, connect you with recovery resources, and support communication with your healthcare team. Eligible members may also access recurrence monitoring and other post-treatment services.
We do not share your results with insurance companies.
Your genetic test results are not shared with insurance companies without your authorization. Kadance takes your privacy seriously and handles your health information in accordance with applicable privacy requirements. Your information is only shared as described in Kadance’s privacy and consent policies, which explain how your data may be used and when it may be disclosed.
How do I choose the right membership?
Choose the membership that reflects where you are in your health journey. Kadance Complete is designed for individuals seeking insight into inherited cancer risk and ongoing proactive support. Kadance Navigate is for individuals currently receiving cancer treatment who need oncology navigation, testing insights, medication guidance, and clinical trial enrollment support. Kadance Recover is for individuals who have completed treatment and want survivorship guidance, recovery resources, and information about recurrence monitoring options.
